Frequently Asked Questions About Printing, Embroidery and Promotional Textiles

We have collected answers to the questions most frequently asked by companies, teams and organisations ordering promotional textiles, printing or embroidery.

Find information about choosing between screen printing, DTG, DTF and embroidery, preparing artwork, selecting suitable textiles, ordering samples, determining decoration size and position, product care, delivery and repeat orders.

As the most suitable method depends on the product, material, quantity and artwork, we recommend assessing each project individually. Describe your requirements and send us an enquiry.

General Questions

There is no single personalisation method that is best for every order. The choice depends on the material, quantity, number of colours, artwork detail, decoration position and desired final appearance.Screen printing is generally suitable for runs using the same design, DTG for detailed full-colour artwork on suitable textiles, DTF for colourful designs on different types of fabric, and embroidery for a raised and professional logo appearance on polo shirts, caps, sweatshirts, jackets and workwear. Before preparing a quotation, we review the product and artwork and recommend a suitable method.
To help us prepare a quotation more efficiently, please provide:the type of product or garment; the estimated quantity; the required sizes and colours; the position and approximate size of the logo or design; the preferred decoration method, if already selected; the artwork file; the preferred completion date.If you have not yet selected the product or decoration method, describe the purpose of the order. Based on the intended use, quantity and desired appearance, we will help you compare suitable options.
The main factors are the intended use, frequency of wear, working environment, season, target audience, desired appearance, available sizes and suitability of the product for printing or embroidery.A product intended for a one-day event has different requirements from everyday workwear or representative clothing for employees. We can help you compare materials, fits, fabric weights, colours and personalisation options.
The decoration size and position are determined by the product type, fit, size range, garment construction, artwork and selected production method. If the same design size is used on all garments, the smallest garment in the order will often determine the maximum practical size. Where the size range varies significantly, different artwork sizes may be prepared by prior agreement.Printing or embroidering directly across seams, pockets, zips or other uneven areas must always be assessed technically.
Vector files such as AI, EPS, SVG or a vector PDF are preferred for logos and simple artwork. Vector graphics can be enlarged without losing quality and allow more accurate preparation for different decoration methods.High-quality raster files such as PSD, PNG, TIFF may also be suitable if their resolution is sufficient for the intended production size.Send us the best original file available. We will review it before production.
Send us the file you have, even if you are unsure whether it is suitable. We will check the resolution, dimensions, colours, thin lines, small text and other elements that may affect production.Where necessary, we will explain what needs to be corrected, simplified or recreated. Artwork for embroidery must also be converted into a file containing instructions for the embroidery machine. This process is known as embroidery digitisation.
For more complex or larger orders, a visual confirmation of the position, size and general appearance of the decoration can be arranged before production.A physical sample may be possible for certain products and production methods, but it can require the same setup procedures as the full production run. This is particularly relevant to screen printing and embroidery. Sample availability, cost and production time are therefore assessed for each order.A digital visual is intended to confirm position and proportions. Colours displayed on a screen may not be identical to colours on the finished textile.
The main factors affecting price and production time are:the selected product; quantity; number of different styles and colours; decoration method; number of print or embroidery positions; artwork size and complexity; file preparation; product availability; required completion date; packaging and delivery requirements. An accurate quotation can be prepared once the product, quantity, artwork and preferred date are known. The production schedule is confirmed when the order details are agreed and approved.
Please provide the official brand colour references with your enquiry, such as Pantone or PMS, CMYK or any other available colour specifications. These values are used as a reference when preparing production. The final appearance of a colour may depend on the decoration method, colour and composition of the textile, background material and lighting conditions. For colour-sensitive projects, requirements should therefore be specified before the order is confirmed.
Always follow the care instructions on the label of the original garment first. For printed textiles, we generally recommend:-washing the product inside out; -using a suitable gentle washing programme; -avoiding bleach and aggressive cleaning products; -air drying where suitable for the material; -avoiding direct contact between an iron and the printed area.Exact recommendations may vary depending on the material and decoration method. Embroidery should also be protected from sharp objects and rough surfaces that could damage the threads.

Information about composition, origin, production methods and certifications varies by manufacturer, brand, collection and specific product model. If a particular material or certification is required, state this in your enquiry. We will check the information provided by the manufacturer or distributor for the selected product.Certifications or properties associated with one brand are not automatically applicable to every product in our range. Availability must be confirmed for the specific model.
In certain cases, we can personalise garments supplied by the customer. Before accepting them, we need to assess the product type, material composition, surface, seams, coatings and suitability for the selected printing or embroidery method. As we have not supplied the product ourselves and cannot fully verify its origin, previous use or reaction to heat, pressure, inks and other production processes, the work is carried out by prior agreement and at the customer’s risk. This also includes the possibility of damage, changes to the material or a result that differs from expectations due to the properties of the supplied item. Before delivering the products, please send us a photograph, material description and estimated quantity. We will review the information and confirm whether personalisation is technically suitable.

Yes. By prior agreement, products can be individually packed, sorted by employee, team, size or location, labelled according to a supplied list and prepared for delivery to multiple addresses. This type of fulfilment must be organised before production begins. Please include the following information in your enquiry:-the number of packages; -the required sorting method; -any labels or lists that need to be included; -the number of delivery addresses; -any special packaging requirements.Packaging, sorting and delivery costs are determined after reviewing the requirements and order quantity.
Yes. Before placing a larger order, you can purchase an undecorated sample of the selected garment or product to check the material, colour, fit, size and general feel.If you subsequently proceed with the order, the purchased sample can normally be included among the products to be printed or embroidered, provided that it has not been used and is suitable for the selected production method.Purchasing a blank sample does not include artwork preparation or a physical sample of the personalisation. If you also require a printed or embroidered sample, the production method, setup cost and lead time must be assessed separately.
Suitability is assessed separately for each product. We need to consider the shape of the item, machine access to the decoration area, material thickness, seams, pockets, zips, linings and the selected personalisation method. Some special positions can be printed or embroidered successfully, while uneven surfaces may cause variations in ink coverage, design sharpness or positioning. In certain cases, we may recommend a slightly different position, design size or production method. Please indicate the required position and attach the artwork to your enquiry. We will assess technical feasibility before confirming the order.
